The foundational stage in our process involves the uncovering of your organization’s unique value-creating identity. In this phase we crystallize the meaning and purpose at the heart of your organization, establish the connections between the individual stories of your leaders and the narrative of the organization, and codify the value that your authentic identity creates for the clients who choose you.

Typically, the inputs to this initial phase will include one-on-one interviews with your key people and with a number of your most strategically important clients. We will usually research the history and heritage of your organization, and study your key competitors.

We pay particular attention to stories, narrative patterns and Jungian archetypes. Stories are the tools that humans use to construct and share meaning, and that groups use to build collective, tribal identity.

The typical deliverables from this first phase include:

  • Four-level value proposition (functional, emotional, ego and societal) 
  • Positioning Statement and  brand manifesto
  • Iconic Client Stories
  • Meaning-based creative brief
  • The Brand in the Bone Workshop: A one or two-day experiential workshop in which the leaders and influencers in your organization learn to use Identity as a decision-making tool and behavioral guide.
